Review: The Menstrual Cup

I started working at an organic grocery store seven years ago when I was first introduced to the reusable menstrual cup and it literally blew my mind! I wish I could give one to everyone who needed one because they are that life-changing!

So if you’re new to this or just have some general questions/concerns I wanna help you gain some confidence so you too can change your life.

Getting Started

It took me about two cycles to get the hang of it. You know, like how to get it up there and get it to suction properly, and how to remove it and clean it.

I had used tampons for years but this was a little bit different. The biggest and best part is you can leave the menstrual cup in for 12 hours (depending on how heavy your flow is) and they don’t absorb outside moisture like a tampon does. My #1 pet peeve was that I had to change my tampon every time I peed and guys I pee A LOT.

If you are out and need to change it just make sure you find a bathroom with a sink inside it so you don’t have to show everyone your cup unless you just don’t care.

Helpful Tips

What if I have an IUD?

I personally do no use birth control but I have heard that you should not use a cup if you have an IUD. Ask your doctor, and do some research.

How to wash the cup

I bring a pan of water to a boil and let it sit then toss in the cup and let it soak for 15 minutes once a month, typically at the end of my cycle! They do make specific washes for them but I have honestly never used/or tried them!

Not All Cups Are Created Equal!

Look, we are all shaped differently- especially our vaginas. So know that you might have to try a few brands before you find the right cup.

The Diva Cup was the first cup I ever tried and it happened to work great for me! I also tried the Luna cup which was so very uncomfortable!

What brands should I go with?

My New Favorite Cup

Saalt recently reached out to me asking if I wanted to test and review a cup so of course I sad yes! I’m always willing to take one for the team so I can help you find what you are looking for!

My thoughts + review on Saalt

It is the comfiest cup I have tried! They are unique in the softness of the silicone so you literally feel nothing! I will say you do need to move it around a little more to make sure it opens back up otherwise it will not suction properly!

They are also a Certified B company and are giving cups to those in need. Hi! I love this! So for all the brands out there to support, this one IMO is doing some awesome things and it’s a great place to order your first or next cup from!

Save 10% on Saalt

As a bonus I have a 10% discount for your order (FYI, I make a commission on your purchases).
