Review: Sézane’s Eco-Friendly Denim

Denim is a must need for any closet but finding the right pair can be a little tricky! I was really eager to try out a pair from Sézane’s new Eco-Friendly line when they released it so I ended up picking out a pair of The New Slim 7/8 (ankle-length cuz I’m short) to test and review for you! Note: I did receive these as a gift but this post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own.

Before I give you my review here are all the styles available from their new Eco-Friendly line so you know what they have!

Styles Available:

The New Slim 7/8 -$125

Available in three washes: black, indigo and blue

In 93% organic cotton, 5% recycled polyester & 2% elastane the same magic of the Perfect Slim with a slightly cropped leg.

Fit Guide: The stretch of these jeans means they flatter most body types. The cropped ⅞ fit makes this jean the perfect choice for more petite frames.

The New Brut Sexy – $125

Available in black, ecru, denim blue and light blue.

In 99% organic cotton and 1% elastane, the new Brut Sexy intuitively accentuates your curves, thanks to a snug fit around the butt and crisp, structured denim. The straight leg lengthens your figure.

The French Touch
The Brut Sexy II is hemmed, but to achieve your ideal leg length, you can simply snip the bottoms. The raw edge gives the jeans a sexy, lived-in feel.

Fit Guide
These jeans are designed to fit like a glove. The crisp denim provides structure but means the denim has minimal stretch. Choose one size-up if you prefer a more relaxed fit. Leg: slim but not ultra-skinny a mix between the New Girlfriend (more relaxed/straight) and the Perfect Slim (very skinny).

The Perfect Slim – $125

In 97% organic cotton & 3% elastane, the new Slim perfectly combines stretch & structure to mask imperfections and flatter, whilst optimizing comfort. In short, you’ll move, but your jeans won’t.

The French Touch: The high waist holds you in, for the most flattering waistline.

My Review

So I ordered New Slim 7/8’s in a size 25 in the light blue wash. I tested these jeans for about 5 days total to get a real feel for how they wear. Now my honest opinion is that overall, I don’t love these jeans. But, before you click out of this review let me explain since you may actually disagree with me and these would be perfect for you!

1. They are too soft!

Okay sounds crazy, but I do not like when my jeans are too soft! They are stretchy and very comfortable which you may love. But it’s hard for this vintage Levi’s living girl to want super soft denim, I need mine to be a bit more structured and borderline uncomfortable. Honestly, you could fly in these pants they are that cozy. I do plan on keeping them and wearing them on road trips since they are great for sitting!

2. Not a high enough rise

I like my jeans to go up to my underarms. Okay, not really but these are just shy of where I want them to hit me on the waist (I have a longer torso). Since the Sézane site does not have the rise measurements I took my own and the size 25 has an alllllmost 11″ rise. I need at least an 11.5″ to be happy.

I do want to try The Venice when they come back in stock since those look nice and high! I’ll review those too if I ever get my paws on them!

What I did like

They are the perfect ankle length for Petites! I just wish they were higher, I could get over the softness if they hit me high enough since they are the perfect length. I’m 5’2″ and these have a 27″ inseam and fit like a dream on the legs.

I also very much love the wash and overall look, plus they are very high quality and will definitely last you a long time. The denim is thick but not too thick and very good stitching. Sézane is known for creating quality pieces and these definitely match that!
