I thought I try something new out and do a round up post of things I have been loving for the month of May. Depending on how much you guys like this I might do it every month!
I plan on including food + style + a book or podcast I’m loving + low waste tips +other random things I liked/used a lot that month.
Many years ago my husband and I went to Charleston, SC and had a lavender cold brew at a local coffee shop. We loved it so much we decided to recreate it ourselves when we got back! For the recipe I use a lavender herbal extract (do not use essential oils for this) My local heath food store has a lavender extract that works great but if you don’t have that available this one works too!
Lavender Honey Simple Syrup
1/4 cup honey (can use agave, maple syrup, or just sugar)
1/2 cup water
Boil the honey + water until the honey is nice and melted. Then add 5 droppers full of your lavender extract. Should last a week or so in the fridge! Shake before using, I like to store mine in a mason jar.
Now for the coffee!
Pour a glass of you favorite cold brew (here’s my personal cold brew recipe!) Add ice + milk of choice + you homemade simple syrup to taste. You will be pleasantly surprised and how delicious this is!
Speaking of coffee, now that is cold brew season I wanted to share my #1 waste saving kit. My Klean Kanteen and metal straw! Its pretty much with me always, and allows me to prevent single use cups! I’ve had this particular Klean Kanteen for over 6 years!
I recently dove into the world of RED and ordered the Everlane linen jumpsuit in tomato and I am loving it! I’ve worn it a few times already and its the perfect one-and-done outfit that keeps you cool for the hot summer ahead. It also comes in navy and black which I’m slightly tempted to get since I love the red so much!
I’d say this in the #1 most gifted item for me. I fell like a new underwear brand reaches out to me at least a few times a month. I had heard about ARQ so I was excited when they offered to send me a set of their bra + underwear. Let me tell you their bras are the best I have ever worn! This is saying a lot!
Hat / sun protection
When I went to Portland last month I hit up the local flea market and found my dream straw hat from a shop called Helado Rosa. I had been looking for one with a strap so I can use for water activities and not worry about loosing it. The best part is this hat is made by a family in Oxaca Mexico and cost a cool $48. Highly recommend this amazing hat!
I have a little pile of books I’m reading, I tend to read multiple books at once (anyone else do this?) But my current fav is Kathryn of Going Zero Waste’s new and first! book 101 Ways to Go Zero Waste, it’s honestly a must read! Take it to the beach or lake this summer, you won’t be disappointed!
I’m not gonna lie I mainly started using pinterest as a way to market this blog (if you have a blog you should be doing this too!) But have quickly fallen in love with pinning! I like to do it a little different and have more “fun” themed boards and a favorite group ive been pinning a ton are my
A few of my favorite Instagram folks lately are @houseinhabit they are life goals and I’m honestly upset that he son is 1,000,000 X cooler than me. He just bought a used bike of craigslist and turned it into a lemonade truck for a summer job! Another is @aud_bod she has a super cute home + kid, and I’ve been following her for years! A newer fav for me is Ashley of @best.dressed I feel like I relate to her style + sense of humor. She also has an amazing youtube channel!
Welp! Thats all I’ve got for now! Let me know in the comments if you liked this!
