Everlane Leather Day Glove VS. ReKnit Day Glove

Recently Everlane launched their newest version of the Day Glove, the ReKnit. The Everlane Day Glove is my most worn shoe & a personal favorite shoe from Everlane so I was excited to try out the newest version and let me tell you it does not disappoint.

What exactly is the ReKnit?

The Everlane ReKnit is very similar to the Rothy’s shoe. Both the Rothy’s and ReKnit are made from recycled plastic water bottles. The Everlane version is made from 8 plastic water bottles if we are being exact. (dear Rothy’s send me a pair so I can compare you to the ReKnit, love Jess)

Lets nail down the basics of each shoe:

Day Glove ReKnit

  • Price: $98
  • Colors available: Black, white, pink, red, yellow
  • Sizes: 5-11 (including half sizes)

Are they vegan?

Sadly no, the ReKnit does have a leather sole but the Rothy’s are vegan if that is more of what you are looking for!

Everlane also has a commitment to to use no new plastic in their supply chain by 2021. Heres a statement I pulled from their website.

“We’ve made a commitment to eliminate virgin plastic from our supply chain by 2021.Whether it’s replacing all synthetic fabrics with renewed materials or eliminating all single-use plastic from our offices and stores, we’re working to reduce our impact on the planet.”

Day Glove Leather (The OG)

  • Price: $115
  • Colors: (16 to choose from!) black, white, rose, cream, light blue, mocha, tan, mauve, burgundy, ivy, brick, navy, caramel, red, slate blue, lemon…phew that’s a lot!
  • Sizes: 5-11 (including half sizes)

The Differences

The ReKnit is $98 and the Leather is $115 so if you are looking to spend a little less, the ReKnit is a good choice!

Color options:

Clearly the leather has way more options than the ReKnit but honestly I remember ordering my first pair of leather Day Gloves and I got decision fatigue trying to pick a color so I just went with black! Sometimes less is more…

The size options are the same so nothing really to talk about here!

How about break in time?

So glad you asked this! Okay so I personally had a rather painful time breaking in the leather but it was very much worth it! The leather really molds to your foot and literally will fit you like a glove.

For the ReKnit since it’s already stretchy (I have had to take me shoe off like 5 times so people could feel the texture) it pretty much is already broken in! If you just don’t have the patience and bandaid stash to break in leather shoes these are for you friend!

The Verdict:

I find the leather version to be a little more on the high end side and can be easily dressed up or down and I will feel fabulous! The ReKnit has more of a casual vibe that is still great and lovely just not as fancy IMO as its leather cousin. Both are honestly a great shoe that you will get a TON of wear from I promise ya!

I’d love to know your thoughts! Have you tried out both shoes and have an opinion! Whats your favorite color? I really am loving the RED, its such a fun pop of color!
